High Technology Institute

The following are Aerospace Academy activities currently underway to encourage students to become a part of the high-tech pipeline also included our program to upgrade skills in the incumbent workforce.

  1. Reduced Gravity Student Flight Program
    NASA-Johnson Space Center awarded a three-year contract to the Aerospace Academy to coordinate these programs. The goal of the Student Flight Program is to address the nation's need for science and engineering graduates by encouraging students to pursue such careers.


  2. NASA Community College Aerospace Scholars Program
    This related activity, being conducted under a grant from NASA-Johnson Space Center to San Jacinto College North, extends the successful high school program to include community college students.


  3. SpaceTEC
    The Aerospace Academy is a member of SpaceTEC, a national aerospace science technical education center of Excellence, funded by the National Science Foundation.

  4. U.S. Department of Labor Aerospace Grant
    The President's High Growth Job Initiative provides funds for the U.S. Department of Labor to award a $1m grant to the Houston-Galveston Area Council and the Aerospace Academy to train aerospace industry employees. The grant currently offers advanced level training focusing on Information Technology, Design Manufacturing, and Safety Related Leadership Training.

  5. High Technology Initiatives Grant
    With a $2.4m grant, the Aerospace Academy trained 3,703 aerospace employees. Funds for this project were awarded by the Texas Workforce Commission and managed by The Worksource-Gulf Coast Workforce Board and the Houston-Galveston Area Council.

  6. Texas Technical Workforce Development Grant
    The University of Houston-Clear Lake, as part of the Aerospace Academy, received a $556,070 Texas Technical Workforce Development Grant. Part of the work was subcontracted to the Aerospace Academy
