High Technology Institute

-High Technology Initiatives Grant

With a $2.4m grant, the Aerospace Academy trained 3,703 aerospace employees. Funds for this project were awarded by the Texas Workforce Commission and managed by The Worksource-Gulf Coast Workforce Board and the Houston-Galveston Area Council. Trainees were employees within 41 participating aerospace organizations and other persons desiring employment in the aerospace field

The 41 employers are AeroTech Precision Mfg., Inc., Aerotek, Analytical Specialties, Atlantic Science & Technology, Inc., Bastion Technology, BES Engineering, Caelum Research Corp., Cimarron, Enterprise Advisory Services, GB Tech, Inc., Geocontrol Systems, GHG Corp., Hamilton Sunstrand, Hernandez Engineering, Honeywell International, ILC Dover; InDyne, Jaymark Engineering, Lockheed Martin, MD Space Robotics Corporation, Metrica, Inc./TRACLABS Division, MRI Technologies, Muniz Engineering, NASA-Johnson Space Center, Oceaneering Space Systems, Raytheon, Rothe Joint Venture, Science Applications International Corp., Spacehab, The Boeing Company, Titan Systems Corporation, United Space Alliance, Washington Group, Inc., and Wyle Laboratories.

The training was provided by San Jacinto College. Areas of training included information technology and design/manufacturing.
