- Recognition:
- Making Connections (Training recognized by the Texas Legislature). The first Aerospace Academy activity, an outstanding success recognized by the Texas Legislature in conjunction with Space Day 2001, was through his institute. Through its "Making Connections" class now available online or face to face, mathematics teachers from nine different school districts and community colleges throughout Texas learn first hand how the mathematics concepts they teach are used in aerospace applications. The course was created with assistance from NASA-Johnson Space Center, Lockheed Martin Space Operations, Barrios Technology, and Space Center Houston.
- Finalist for a national 2003 Bellwether Award for being an innovative outstanding program.
