Science Resources

Cool Science for Kids includes some of the best science projects from some of the best museums in the country.  Some of these activities are entirely electronic. Your child will do everything on screen.  Others require students to go to your kitchen or backyard.  They are designed for students in kindergarten through second or third grade.

Fairmont Center for Science and Mathematics Education was created by Wichita State University in the summer of 1995 to serve as a resource for K-12 science and math education. The Center operates the Lake Afton Public Observatory, runs the Kansas Science Olympiad, hosts the Kansas Academy of Science's Kansas Junior Academy of Science and coordinates the JASON Project in Kansas.  Appropriate for all age groups..

Frank Potter's Science Gems includes more than 14,000 science resources sorted by category, subcategory, and grade level.

The Mad Sci Network represents a collective cranium of scientists providing answers to user questions. The site also includes links to science resource archives, a search engine, a “Random Knowledge Generator,” “MadSci FAQs,” “MAD Labs: Have More Fun With Science,” “MadSci Library: Find resources on the web,” and “Ask-A-Scientist: Still have a question?  You can ask a scientist here.”  Appropriate for all age groups.

McREL Science Lesson Plans includes lesson plans, activities, and curriculum resources.  The site also has links to a “Lesson Plan Library,” and related resources.  Appropriate for all age groups.

PBS - Science and Technology is the Public Broadcasting System science and technology web site.  It includes a comprehensive treatment of all of the sciences as well as lesson plans and professional development tools and Tools, tips and tutorials to help teachers integrate technology in the classroom.  Appropriate for all age groups.

Teachnet.com - Science Lesson Plans has lesson plans in “General Science,” “Biology,” “Earth,” “Physics,” “Technology,” “Dinosaurs,” “Scientific Method,” “Space and Time,” “Weather,” and “Animals.”  Appropriate for elementary school students.

WannaLearn.com - Science contains online tutorials, guides and instructionally oriented information for astronomy, biology, chemistry, environmental science, geology, meteorology, physics and psychology.  Appropriate for elementary school and high school students.
