Earth Science Resources

Earth Science and Map Library is the University of California at Berkley Library earth science site.  It includes links to earth science, planetary science, geography, geophysics and seismology, climate and weather, and oceanography resources.  Most appropriate for college students.

Earth Science Explorer is a virtual earth science museum that includes interactive educational modules and links to other earth science sites.  Particularly appropriate for elementary school and high school students.

Earth Science Teacher Guides includes resources designed to help teachers use NASA material in earth science education.  The resources include: “Looking at Earth from Space,” a teacher’s guide with activities for earth and space science, and “Our Mission to Planet Earth,” a guide to teaching earth system science.

Geology.com: Earth Science on the Web is a general earth science resource site that includes information about geologic time, jobs, organizations, universities, astronomy, earthquakes, floods, geology basics, hazards, landslides, maps, minerals, museums, paleontology, petroleum, and plate tectonics.  Appropriate for all age groups.

Geosource includes web resources for human geography, physical geography, planning, geoscience and environmental science.  Appropriate for high school and college students.

NASA Earth Science Enterprise (ESE) is the NASA ESE resource site.  The site includes links to an image and video studio, a “kids only” earth science site, teacher resources and information about Earth Science Enterprise research.  Appropriate for all age groups.

ScienceMaster Earth Science includes images of, for example, volcano Mount Saint Helens blowing her top, scenes of devastating earthquakes, information on rocks and minerals, fossils, plate tectonics, and how hurricanes unleash their fury.  The site includes links to USGS and NOAA web sites, a Learning Gallery and a JumpStart science area. Appropriate for all age groups.

TeachersFirst.com - Elementary Earth Science includes a comprehensive set of elementary earth science activities, resource links and lesson plans.  Appropriate for elementary school students.

United States Geological Survey - Geology is the United States Geological Survey “Geology Discipline” resource site.  The site includes links to “What’s New,” “Geology Publications,” “Real-Time Hazard Information,” and the “Geologic Data Explorer.”  The latter allows users to access, view, and download information from geo-spatial databases containing a broad spectrum of data produced by the USGS and other government agencies.  Particularly appropriate for high school and college students.

United States Geological Survey - Fact Sheets summarize research and investigations of the USGS, or provide details about particular activities.  Appropriate for high school and college students.
